The Carib was the largest and highest-grossing theatre in the West Indies, and was once Jamaica's largest building. It served as a one-screen facility until a 1996 fire and 1997 renovation/conversion into a five-screen multiplex.
People from Jamaica and other countries can bring their films to the festival which lasts for three days. On the last day six people with notable productions are inducted as the first executive directors of a Jamaican film. The current director is Barbara Blake Hannah, who is also the current executive director of the Jamaican film industry. [9]

Rankin County will again be home to a second major movie theater as Virginia-based Legacy Theaters plans to reopen the former United Artists Parkway Place multiplex in Flowood on Friday, Nov. 10.
Kingston Theatre, was a theatre in Kingston, Jamaica, between 1775 and 1838. [1] It was a major cultural centre of the island during its duration and had a good reputation also outside of the island, giving Jamaica a name of cultural sophistication, and it remained the main theatre of Jamaica during its history.
