Carriacou (/ ˈ k ɛər i ə ˌ k u / KAIR-ee-ə-KOO) [1] is an island of the Grenadine Islands. It is a part of the nation of Grenada and is located in the south-eastern Caribbean Sea, northeast of the island of Grenada and the north coast of South America. The name is derived from the Kalinago language Kayryouacou.
Carriacou Island is the largest island of the Grenadines, an archipelago in the Windward Islands chain. The island is 13 square miles (34 km 2 ) with a population of 9,595 (2019 census). The main settlements on the island are Hillsborough , L'Esterre, Harvey Vale, and Windward.
In 1960 Herbert Blaize became the first chief minister of Grenada to come from Carriacou. The telephone system began operating in 1961 on the island of Carriacou. Bishop's College was the first Secondary School in Carriacou; it was opened in 1964 by the Anglican Church. In 1965, the Carriacou Regatta was first held.
Hillsborough is the largest town (city) on the island of Carriacou, Grenada. The town serves primarily as a retail and administrative centre of both Carriacou and Petite Martinique. It has a population of approximately 1,000 people.

In early July 2024, Hurricane Beryl made landfall as a Category 4 storm, causing extensive damage on the island as well as Carriacou. The hurricane devastated the island's power infrastructure, and destroyed cell towers, and it has been estimated that up to 95% of the residences on the island were destroyed or damaged beyond habitability.
