The lake is home to many species of fish, which were stocked by former deputy game warden and director of the Lake George Cottager's Association, Fred Wiegman in the early 20th century. Early in its history, the Lake George Cottager's Association obtained permission for fishing in the lake using either Michigan or Indiana fishing licenses. [4]
The creek also had the state record Brown trout (Salmo trutta) (caught in 1999 by Steven Bay and weighing 24.18 pounds) until 2006 when a larger one (26.06 pounds) was caught in Lake Michigan itself. Trail Creek also supports other native game and non-game fish species.
Pigeon River Fish and Wildlife Area is a protected area in northeastern Indiana that covers 12,134 acres (4,910 ha) and is dedicated to providing hunting and fishing opportunities. The area includes 529 acres (214 ha) of lakes and 17 miles (27 km) along the Pigeon River. It is located on Indiana State Road 3, near Mongo in Lagrange County. [1]
