Nguyễn Minh Châu (Quỳnh Lưu, 20 October 1930 – 23 January 1989) was a Vietnamese novelist. Châu is noted for in 1978, in the Military Culture journal having been one of the first to call for more humanity and realism, and less propaganda in depiction of Vietnam 's struggle.

Sóc Trăng was known as Ba Xuyên during Minh Mạng's admininistration. [1]During the Nguyễn Dynasty of emperor Minh Mạng, it was given the Sino-Vietnamese name Nguyệt Giang (月 江), a calque of "Sông Trăng" (Moon River).
On 5 September 1950, a trial was carried out for Trần Dụ Châu, Lê Sỹ Cửu (Châu's assistant), and Bùi Minh Chân (Châu's secretary). Đoàn Phú Tứ was also invited to the trial. [4] After the trial, Trần Dụ Châu was sentenced to death. He also sent an appeal to Hồ Chí Minh but was declined. [5]
