The 317th Platoon (French: La 317ème section) is a 1965 French black-and-white war film set during the First Indochina War (1946–54) written and directed by Pierre Schoendoerffer. The film was based on Schoendoerffer's 1963 novel of the same name.
A courtroom-drama about a dead Captain whose memory is publicly accused by a historian on TV, twenty years after his death. The story follows his widow's struggle to prove that he was not a murderer and did not practise torture while he was leading a ground unit during the Algerian war.

The 317th Infantry Regiment [1] [2] was a regiment of the United States Army during World War II. It was one of three infantry regiments in the 80th Infantry Division . Today, it is known as the 317th Regiment and is based in Lynchburg, Virginia as a training unit within the United States Army Reserve - currently under the 104th Training Division .

The 88th Bombardment Group was activated in July 1942 at Salt Lake City Army Air Base, Utah.However, it existed only on paper until September 1942, when it was organized at Geiger Field, Washington, with the 316th, 317th, 318th and 399th Bombardment Squadrons as its operational components.

Numerous Operations were conducted, and most notably Operation Marne Avalanche. One AO in particular (Wasit Provence) was controlled by a single armor platoon of 16 men and was the largest AO in Iraq. The 4th Brigade, including the 3-7th Infantry, continued to serve in that country into 2008.
