On four occasions the Kuala Lumpur Marathon was either postponed or cancelled, which occurred in 2013, 2015, 2020 and 2021, due to situations rendering the impracticability of holding the marathon. Since 2019, the marathon has switched to a two-day format due to the growing number of runners, spread out over a race weekend period.
