Mansfield District is a local government district in Nottinghamshire, England. It is named after the town of Mansfield, where the council is based. The district also contains Mansfield Woodhouse (which forms part of the Mansfield urban area) and Warsop. The neighbouring districts are Bassetlaw, Newark and Sherwood, Ashfield and Bolsover.
Mansfield played many clubs in this era in various leagues and associations. Jamieson, Bonnie Doon, Merton, Maindample, Delatite, Mt Battery, Swanpool, Tolmie, Yarck, among others. Between the wars the district became unable to maintain numerous clubs, so the various smaller ones morphed towards the larger Mansfield FC and Mount Battery FC.
In 1906, the city was represented in then Ohio–Pennsylvania League with the Mansfield Giants.The club changed its name to the Mansfield Pioneers in 1907 until 1909. The team was once again renamed the Mansfield Reformers in 1910 and the Mansfield Brownies in 1911.
The 1986–87 season was Mansfield Town's 50th season in the Football League and 16th in the Third Division they finished in 10th position with 61 points. They also won the Football League Trophy after beating Bristol City in the final. [1]
The 2013–2014 Season of Mansfield Town F.C. was its first back in the Football League, following promotion as champions from the Blue Square Bet Premier at the end of the 2012–13 season. The club also took part in the FA Cup , the League Cup and the Football League Trophy .
