Schuyler was born in Mount Arlington, New Jersey, on 22 December 1900. He was the son of Frank Herbert Schuyler (1865–1942) [2] and Harriette Jarvis Ferris (née Fosdick) Schuyler (1865–1919). Catherine Van Rensselaer Schuyler (/ ˈ s k aɪ l ər /; also known as "Kitty", November 10, 1734 – March 7, 1803) [1] was a Colonial and post-Colonial American socialite and the matriarch of the prominent colonial Schuyler family as wife of Philip Schuyler.

November 9] 1733 [3] in Albany, New York, to Cornelia Van Cortlandt (1698–1762) and Johannes ("John") Schuyler Jr. (1697–1741), the third generation of the Dutch Schuyler family in America.
