Sheffield is a city [a] in South Yorkshire, England, situated 37 miles (60 km) south of Leeds and 38 miles (61 km) east of Manchester. The city serves as the administrative centre of the City of Sheffield. It is historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire and some of its southern suburbs were transferred from Derbyshire to the city council.

The South Yorkshire Supertram, [b] sometimes referred to as the Sheffield Supertram, is a tram and tram-train network covering Sheffield and Rotherham in South Yorkshire, England. The network is owned and operated by the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA).
Sheffield Hallam was the only non-Labour South Yorkshire seat for many years, and was held by Nick Clegg for 12 years, until Labour gained the seat in 2017. For a 22-year period spanning 1997–2019, the Conservatives had no seats in South Yorkshire, until the 2019 election , when they gained three.
