Eduardo César Daud Gaspar (born 16 May 1978), known as Edu (pronounced), is a Brazilian former professional footballer and ex sporting director of Premier League club Arsenal. As a player, he was an attacking and central midfielder , and played for Corinthians in Brazil, Arsenal in England, and Valencia in Spain across a twelve-year career.
Edu then moved to Ukraine to play for Arsenal Kyiv in second half of 2001-02 season and 2002-03 season. Edu joined Belarusian team Torpedo Minsk in August 2003. [1] As the club was expelled from the league at the start of 2005 season, he joined Dinamo Minsk. In July 2011 he returned to Brazil and signed a contract with Santacruzense. [2].
Edu started his senior career in Série A with Brazilian side Corinthians in 1998. He signed for Arsenal in January 2001. Edu became the first Brazilian to win the Premier League after Arsenal won the 2001–02 league title.
