The Serenade of the Seas at the Port of Halifax, Halifax, Nova Scotia, on 1 September 2024. Serenade of the Seas sails the Caribbean, departing from her home port of Tampa, Florida, during the winter months. During the summer months, Serenade of the Seas sails the Baltic Sea leaving from the home ports of Copenhagen, Denmark, or Stockholm, Sweden.
The ship was renamed MS Stardancer in 1985 and Viking Serenade in 1990 before being converted to a cruise ship in 1991. She was renamed again as MS Island Escape in 2002, again as MS Ocean Gala in 2015, and lastly as MS Ocean Gala 1 , before being scrapped in 2018.
On 28 October 2017, TUI Discovery 2 was renamed Marella Discovery 2 in a ceremony held at the port of Tenerife by members of the ship's crew chosen as 'outstanding performers' by the company, together with the Captain. Splendour of the Seas last sailed for Royal Caribbean on 4 April 2016, and the final Legend of the Seas sailing for Royal Caribbean left port on 13 March 2017. [25] [26] In October 2019, Royal Caribbean announced a plan to transfer Grandeur of the Seas to Pullmantur Cruises after its last scheduled sailing on 21 March 2021. [27]
