The University of Jordan (Arabic: الجامعة الأردنية), often abbreviated UJ or JU, is a public university located in Amman, Jordan. Founded in 1962, [ 10 ] and it is the largest and oldest institution of higher education in Jordan .

Since 2000 to 2006, enrollment in 12 private universities grew by about 18 percent annually from 36,642 to 55,744.
