The texture of the Bergkäse is rather hard, sometimes with small holes or cracks, with a strong taste, which is sometimes nutty. In the strict sense, Bergkäse is a cheese produced in the low mountain range (between 600 and 1500 m). Examples of Vorarlberg's Bergkäse are the Vorarlberger Bergkäse or Großwalsertaler Bergkäse named "Walserstolz".
Tourism is the main source of income for Arlberg villages and their inhabitants and plays a vital role in the region. [1]Today, "Arlberg" is a brand for the winter sports areas around the Arlberg Pass, in particular the ski areas of Lech, Zürs, Stuben, Klösterle and St. Christoph, St. Anton am Arlberg.
The summit forms the border between Switzerland and Austria and is the second highest peak in Vorarlberg, a state of Austria, and the sixth highest peak of the mountain range after the Piz Linard, the Fluchthorn, the Piz Buin Grond, the Verstanclahorn and the Piz Fliana. The first ascent was made 1868 by O.W. Stein and his guide Christian Jann.
Montafon (German: [mɔntaˈfoːn] ⓘ in local dialect: "Muntafu") is a 39 km long valley in the westernmost Austrian federal state of Vorarlberg. [1] It is traversed by the river Ill (Vorarlberg) and extends from the city of Bludenz and the Verwall Alps in the north, to the Silvretta and Rätikon mountain range in the south.
The Rätikon is a mountain range of the Central Eastern Alps, located at the border between Vorarlberg, Liechtenstein and Graubünden. It is the geological border between the Eastern and Western Alps and stretches from the Montafon as far as the Rhine. In the south, the Prättigau is its limit, and in the north, it is the Walgau.
