These are sites that devote themselves to clear, often step-by-step and simple explanations of complex thoughts, ideas, processes and events. Examples include The Economist , The New York Times, Nate Silver's Fivethirtyeight. There's an article on the subject at Awl that also ranks quite a few such sites.
