Aisin-Warner. The Aisin-Warner four-speed automatic transmission (AW4) was co-designed by AMC and Borg Warner, and built by Aisin in their new facility for use with the Cherokee XJ's 4.0L inline six cylinder engine. It was manufactured by Aisin-Warner, a member of the Toyota group, in partnership with Borg-Warner.
