Capacitors can be crafted. I tend to find the ES lamps in file cabinets. Lots of both on interchange tech shelves as a scav. scav run reserve. drop down building and black knight have a lot of computers. jackets and filing cabinets. i bet it takes you less than 5 scav runs on reserve lol.

The only thing that effects generator usage is solar power. You bring up a good point though, should be able to turn off certain stations to increase or decrease power consumption. It's a good idea, properly will never happen though. Just like in real life, it doesn't really matter. (No they don't)

Keep checking shelves in Oli on interchange, you can usually find a couple per run, even as a scav. On top of the desk that has the safe under it in office on factory. A small lava lamp (14 inches) uses 15-25 watt light bulbs depending on the model. You can use a dimmer and reduce the output by say, 20-30% and the lamp will still work. Other than that there are "glitter lamps" that use LEDs (I had a USB one once) but you won't find any actual LED lava lamps because you need a relatively large amount of heat ...
One reason you may see an improvement is just that you are thinking about energy more, and therefore making better decisions. For instance you mention in a comment that you found a baseboard heater that was fighting an AC - that is a great energy saving fix right there.
It is a stat that needs to be monitored just as much as anything else. Also be aware that if your stomach gets blacked out you will lose hydration and energy at an extremely fast speed (like 5-10 times faster) so if that happens you will need to either eat and drink a ton of stuff to keep alive and/or leave asap.
