The Little Muddy River is a 72.9-mile-long (117.3 km) [1] tributary of the Big Muddy River in Illinois. It forms the boundary between Franklin and Perry counties. [2]
The Big Muddy was not covered by the Wisconsin Glacier, about 70,000 to 10,000 years before present. However, during the melting of that glacier, the level of the Mississippi River was much higher. Water backed up into the Big Muddy Basin, forming a lake much like the artificial Rend Lake but covering a larger area.
Posternak opened Muddy River in Portsmouth in 1995 and operated it before selling it in 2006 to focus on his catering business, Chill Catering, and later opened the Roundabout Diner in Portsmouth.
