Tiger Airways Holdings Limited (SGX: J7X) was a Singapore-based airline holding company for a group of low-cost carriers operating in the Asia-Pacific region. It was formed in 2007 to allow for easier management of the airline subsidiaries, as well as any future expansion, without having to focus on operational issues, leaving those to the airlines themselves.
On September 29, 2006, a deal was announced in which Singapore-based Tigerair would enter a commercial and operational tie-up with SEAir from February 2007. [7] The tie-up was finally approved in 2008 after protest from four other Philippine airlines. However, due to the unfavorable operating environment, the plan was put into hiatus.
Scoot is a low-cost airline based in Singapore, and is a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. It launched flights in 2012 and mainly operates on medium and long-haul routes.
