Per Tommy Jansson (2 October 1952 – 20 May 1976) was a motorcycle speedway rider. [1] He was one of Sweden's most exciting speedway prospects in the 1970s but was killed in the Swedish Final a World Championship Qualifying Round meeting. [2] [3] He earned 52 caps for the Sweden national speedway team. [4]
He competed regularly in the Xtreme International Ice Racing series (ice speedway) in the United States, winning the series in 2004 and 2005. On 8 June 2007, he died in a hospital after a crash the day before at the Norrköping Motorstadion, while racing for Vargarna in the Swedish Elite League, had left him with serious head injuries. Jansson rode in the top tier of British Speedway riding for the Ipswich Witches from 2002 to 2007, in the Elite League. [ 4 ] On 16 August 2008, he crashed during a race in Sweden, while riding for Team Bikab against Filbyterna that left him paralysed.
