[3] [2] It was discovered by Ecuadorian biologist Alejandro Arteaga and Panamanian biologist Abel Batista in 2023. [4] [2] Sibon irmelindicaprioae belongs to the genus Sibon, and subfamily Dipsadinae.

Trimeresurus salazar, also known as Salazar's pit viper, is a species of venomous, green pit viper first discovered in 2019 in the lowlands of the western part of Arunachal Pradesh, India; the fifth new reptile species to be discovered in the region in 2019. It was named after Salazar Slytherin from the Harry Potter series.
The new species, described in the journal Diversity, diverged from the previously known southern green anaconda about 10 million years ago, differing genetically from it by 5.5 per cent.
