Find a place to hunt on over 1 million acres of publicly accessible land located throughout Texas. Hunt areas include property owned by TPWD, acreage leased by the department from other state and federal agencies, forest products industries, and other cooperating private landowners.
These enhanced maps are found online on the Department’s Annual Public Hunting Permit/Walk-In Hunts website (www.tpwd.texas.gov/APH). In addition, enhanced maps can be downloaded to your smartphone using the TPWD Texas Hunt & Fish mobile application (tpwd.texas.gov/huntandfish).
Adults are required to purchase an Annual Public Hunting Permit prior to being allowed to apply for E-Postcard Hunts, and all hunters must have a valid Texas hunting license to participate.
A Migratory Game Bird Endorsement is required to hunt any migratory game bird (waterfowl, coot, rail, gallinule, snipe, dove, sandhill crane, and woodcock). A valid Federal Duck Stamp and HIP Certification are also required of waterfowl hunters 16 years of age or older.

Hunting is allowed each day of the Early Teal, Waterfowl, and Goose. seasons for Cooke, Denton, and Grayson Counties (including any special conservation season). Squirrels, Rabbits, Hares, and Frogs: No closed season. Snipe and Gallinules: Corresponds to statewide seasons for these species.
Waterfowl: Hunting is allowed each day of the Early Teal, North Zone Duck, and Extended Falconry seasons. Dove: Every day of the first split of the Central Zone Dove season.
