Brandeis was Nebraska's department store. The chain had its peak in the early 1970s with 3,000 employees and $100 million in sales. [ 7 ] The Crossroads Mall store opened in 1960 with mixed results but soon took off and proved to be one of the best stores in the chain, earning an average of $38 million (~$300 million in 2023).
Developed by the Brandeis Investment Corp., Southroads opened in 1966 with an Omaha-based department store, Brandeis, and JCPenney as anchors. The mall has 500,000 square feet (46,000 m 2) of retail space, which was modeled after the success of Omaha's Crossroads Mall, which was also developed by Brandeis.
Oak View Mall is an enclosed shopping mall located at 3002 South 145th Street in West Omaha, Nebraska. There are 104 tenant spots on two floors of this regional mall, which was built in 1991. The Gold and Company Store Building is a historic commercial building in Lincoln, Nebraska. It was built in 1924 for the Gold and Company Store, co-founded by William Gold and later managed by his son Nathan, until its 1964 merger with J. L. Brandeis and Sons. [2] The building was designed in the Gothic Revival and Art Deco styles. [2]
