The college is located in Kishoreganj, Bangladesh. The college was founded in 1943. [1] The college has its campus on 22.72 acres of land. As of 2021, it had 22,000 students. The college offers higher secondary education, undergraduate (three-year bachelor pass and four-year bachelor's honours), and graduate (master's) level education to students.
It also offers undergraduate and degree (pass) courses under the National University of Bangladesh. Currently, there are Bachelors (Honors) courses in 5 subjects namely Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Accountancy and Management and Degree (pass) courses in 4 subjects namely BA, BSS, BSC and BBS.
In 1985, the NIEMT was renamed the Bangladesh Institute of Distance Education (BIDE) which offered, apart from audio-visual materials, a Bachelor of Education (BEd) programme via distance learning validated by the University of Rajshahi.
