Salut Salon is a chamber music quartet from Hamburg, Germany, with two violinists, a cellist, and a pianist, all women. It was founded in 2002 by violinists Angelika Bachmann and Iris Siegfried. [2] It was one of the first mobile browsers to score a perfect 100 on the Acid3 test. [3] RIM acquired Torch Mobile in 2009 and discontinued Iris. [4]
In July 2008, Salon launched Open Salon, a "social content site" and "curated blog network". [27] It was nominated for a 2009 National Magazine Award [28] in the category "best interactive feature." On March 9, 2015, Salon announced it would be closing Open Salon after six years of hosting a community of writers and bloggers. [8]
