Petticoat Junction: Family Favorite Episodes DVD Review. Beginning in 1960 with The Andy Griffith Show, CBS began to have great success with a series of programs that would later come to be called "rural comedies." Charming, folksy, and family-oriented, these comedies scored high on the Nielsen charts and ran for years, several still popular ...
Timothy. I just read on Wikipedia (of course not always known for having correct or accurate information) that the remaining series of Petticoat Junction, which would include all 7 seasons, is going to be released on DVD sometime later this year by CBS Television Distribution. It mentions this under the Home Media section of the Wikipedia entry.
It wasn't as successful during their originals runs, either. CBS was originally going to cancel PETTICOAT JUNCTION in 1969 after six seasons. After a phenomenally successful first year (which had placed #4 in the Nielsen ratings), the series had been in a slow, but steady decline ever since.
199. Real Name. sjbradford. The first three seasons are the best. Once Jay Sommers left (to concentrate solely on Green Acres) and the deadly dull duo of Meredith MacRae and Mike Minor showed up, it went downhill fast. And the episodes without Bea Benaderet aren’t even worth a second look - she was a talented lady and the unifying presence of ...
Then in 2012, Me-TV announced they acquired the rights to the first two seasons. Some notible examples of episodes/seasons out of syndication are: •“The Millionaire” - 18 episodes OOS. •“Our Miss Brooks” - 3 episodes OOS. •“My Three Sons” - Seasons 1-5 (B&W) and 11-12 (Color) OOS. •“Petticoat Junction” - Season 1 & 2 OOS ...
The show really picked up again late in S6 and throughout S7 and easily could have been renewed for an 8th season. And yes, I agree Meredith helped push it forward, along with the remaining cast, after the difficulty of losing Bea Benaderet. Gary "having those McRae seasons on DVD would be really nice, but I've given up hope" O.
Hi gang, I started a Facebook campaign designed to get CBS' attention that we want more Petticoat Junction.
The only way it could happen if the copyright date was omitted. Many of the shows were produced by the same producers/studios so I doubt they have let it slip into PD. The last TV shows I know that are in public domain are from the '60s the first few seasons of Andy Griffith, Petticoat Junction, The Beverly Hillbillies, The Lucy Show.
First I’ll post the lists, then some of the pressing questions that came up. 1950s shows entirely in color: The Cisco Kid (1950-56) The Marriage (1954/comedy-drama, 8 episodes) My Friend Flicka (1955-56) Sergeant Preston of the Yukon (1955-58) Judge Roy Bean (1956) Northwest Passage (1958-59) Bonanza (1959-73)
