The Promenade at Downey is a 77-acre (31 ha), 656,000-square-foot (60,900 m 2) retail power center in Downey, California, built on the 1,500,000-square-foot (140,000 m 2) mixed-use development on the site of the former Downey Studios, which before that was the site of a Boeing/NASA industrial complex, originally built in 1948 by North American Aviation.

Walmart opened on June 17, 2009, replacing a former store 1.5 miles (2.4 km) to the west (the old store re-opened six years later as Walmart's Neighborhood Market format in 2015, occupying only half of the old store's original footprint, but later closed in 2019).
As the Supercenter proved to be a much more profitable experiment, Walmart renamed the stores "Wal-Mart's Hypermart USA" in April 1990, and eventually began either converting them to Supercenter operations or closing them. As of 2023, two of the former Hypermart USA locations still operate as Walmarts while the other two have been demolished.
