The following lists contains all the hymns composed by Sankey that are found in the "1200" edition of Sacred Songs and Solos. Many of these hymns are also found in the six-volume collection, Gospel Hymns and Sacred Songs, which Sankey edited with Philip Bliss and others, which was published in the United States between 1876 and 1891. "Amazing Grace" is a Christian hymn published in 1779, written in 1772 by English Anglican clergyman and poet John Newton (1725–1807). It is possibly the most sung and most recorded hymn in the world, and especially popular in the United States, where it is used for both religious and secular purposes.

Since the spread of the Old Hymnal is closely associated with the Ambrosian Rite , Te Deum had long been known as “the Ambrosian Hymn”.
