Eugene Thurman Upshaw Jr. (August 15, 1945 – August 20, 2008) was an American professional football guard who played for the Oakland Raiders of the American Football League (AFL) and later the National Football League (NFL). He later served as the executive director of the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA).
During their first two seasons, the Raiders played their home games in San Francisco, at Kezar Stadium and Candlestick Park (1960, 1961). They played their first regular season game at Frank Youell Field in 1962 on September 9 against the New York Titans and the Raiders lost, 28–17, the first of thirteen consecutive losses that season.
