The Apple Festival was founded in September 1949 with the purpose of promoting La Crescent and its apple industry. The first Apple Festival was a huge success, drawing a crowd of nearly 20,000 people, and the festival has grown in size and quality every year. The Hangar offers programs that bring theatre arts into the schools of children in the Ithaca area. Artists-in-Schools initiatives bring Hangar artists into elementary and middle schools to collaborate with classrooms in creating original plays with music. [11] School tours present theatre arts productions at schools in the Ithaca, NY area.
The Lehigh Valley Railroad ran through Trumansburg between September 13, 1873, and October 1962, when the portion south to Ithaca was abandoned and most of the easements sold to the New York Gas & Electric Company (NYSEG). The portion north to Geneva was abandoned in 1967.
