The Horneffer Residence/German Free School at W62 N593-595 Washington Ave was originally the home of Colonel Horneffer, who founded the Washington House in 1846. In 1854 he opened the German Free School in his home. The building is loosely Greek Revival style, with walls of rough-cut limestone framed by dressed stone pilasters and lintels. [2] [10]
