Each episode consists of four players, known as 'contenders' – two male and two female – competing in a series of physically challenging events against the show's resident 'Gladiators', a group of elite athletes – such as bodybuilders or track and field athletes – and eventually competing in one contenders-only final event, the Eliminator.
The contenders for the heat are: Joe and Aman; and Nikki and Keeva. New female Gladiator, Cyclone, debuts in this episode. Events for this heat include the classics Duel and The Wall, in addition to the renewed Gauntlet. During the event The Edge, female contender Nikki suffered an injury upon falling from the edge with Gladiator Dynamite.
Several of the new Gladiators for the second revival were later revealed on various daytime TV shows throughout August, but the BBC's plan to launch the show in 2023 was delayed. The first series of Gladiators aired in the UK in Spring 2024 on BBC One, [1] [2] and is also available on video on demand platform BBC iPlayer. [3] The series was filmed in June 2023 at Sheffield Arena. [4] The show is presented by Bradley Walsh and his son Barney Walsh, with Mark Clattenburg, Sonia Mkoloma and Lee Phillips acting as the referees.
