Cloud computing architecture refers to the components and subcomponents required for cloud computing. These components typically consist of a front end platform (fat client, thin client, mobile), back end platforms (servers, storage), a cloud based delivery, and a network (Internet, Intranet, Intercloud).
These systems use what is sometimes called rack-scale architecture, which allows network operators to replace components on a rack while the entire data center behaves as a virtualized server. This allows operators to allocate compute, memory, and storage resources inside each server node on-demand, over a high speed, low latency computing fabric.
The three-tier is the common network architecture used in data centers. [10] However, three-tier architecture is unable to handle the growing demand of cloud computing. [11] The higher layers of the three-tier DCN are highly oversubscribed. [3] Moreover, scalability is another major issue in three-tier DCN.
Services can be scaled on-demand by the user. According to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), such infrastructure is the most basic cloud-service model. IaaS can be hosted in a public cloud (where users share hardware, storage, and network devices), a private cloud (users do not share resources), or a hybrid cloud (combination of both).
Converged storage is a storage architecture that combines storage and computing resources into a single entity. This can result in the development of platforms for server centric, storage centric or hybrid workloads where applications and data come together to improve application performance and delivery. [ 1 ]
A primary advantage of cloud bursting and a hybrid cloud model is that an organization pays for extra compute resources only when they are needed. [68] Cloud bursting enables data centers to create an in-house IT infrastructure that supports average workloads, and use cloud resources from public or private clouds, during spikes in processing ...

Distributed hardware infrastructures become the norm, with data and services spread across many compute and storage nodes, both in public clouds and on-premise. Due to the flattening of Moore's law , [ 9 ] new processors are emerging to boost performance, reducing CPU loads by handling intensive tasks including data movement, data protection ...
