Cooperative education (or co-operative education) is a structured method of combining classroom-based education with practical work experience.. A cooperative education experience, commonly known as a "co-op" or work-study program, provides academic credit for structured work experiences, helping young people in school-to-work transition.
Most students are suggested internships at affiliated corporations related to their majors. Additionally, students can gain both research and experience by taking an internship at Englewood Hospital. The Senior Experience Program partners 12th graders in mentor internships one day per week for the full high school year.
Students in the summer program attend 5 weeks of English, math, and science classes in the summer months. Mathematics classes include algebra, geometry, precalculus, calculus, and science courses are held for biology, chemistry, and physics. After completing the program, the student receives one college credit from the associated institution.
The Institute for Collaborative Education (also called ICE) is a college-preparatory public secondary school (grades 6–12) in the Gramercy Park neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City near Stuyvesant Town–Peter Cooper Village.
The school offers 6th grade through 8th grades with classes consisting of 20 students and one teacher. The middle school currently has 75 students.
