The first intercollegiate lacrosse game in the United States was played on November 22, 1877 between New York University and Manhattan College. On May 7, 1924, NYU overwhelmed and shutout Harvard at Soldier's Field by a score of 7-0. Men's lacrosse at NYU was discontinued sometime after 1931 but was revived nearly 60 years later in 1990.
