Laurence "Lars" Eighner Hexamer (born Laurence Vail Eighner, November 25, 1948 – December 23, 2021) was an American author and memoirist. He was the author of Travels with Lizbeth , a memoir of homelessness in the American Southwest during the late 1980s, [ 1 ] "a book widely regarded as one of the finest memoirs of recent decades."
Turner was born in Bledsoe, Kentucky, on Christmas Eve 1947. He attended Pine Mountain Settlement School as well as the Red Bird Mission School. [1] He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Union College (now Union Commonwealth University) in 1974 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1977.
