As with all schools on the UCVTS campus classes run on a block scheduling system. Two revolving days (A/B) are broken up into five blocks (1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10). Each block is 83 minutes in length, with the exception of 5/6. Depending on the student's grade level, periods 5 and 6 are Co-Curricular and the Lunch period, in some order.

The Union County Vocational-Technical Schools (UCVTS) are a grouping of schools on the Union County Vocational Technical Schools Campus in Scotch Plains, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, which offers educational programs for students across Union County, eight at the high school level for students in ninth through twelfth grades and one at the adult education level. Since 1997, the campus has seen a number of expansions as more high schools are built and fewer adult classes are offered. The Academy for Information Technology opened on the south side of the campus in the mid-2000s.

Its first year was the 2008–2009 school year. The school offers majors in theatre, dance, and technical theatre. The school is part of the Union County Vocational Technical Schools (UCVTS). The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 2017. [3]
This is the same exam taken by all applicants to a UCVTS school (includes Union County Magnet High School, Academy for Performing Arts, Academy for Information Technology, and the Union County Vocational Technical High School) . Admission is very competitive, with approximately 3-6 students selected each year from every town in Union County.
Global Online Academy (GOA) is a nonprofit organization which provides online classes, workshops, and other educational resources for students and teachers.
