Tapping into that line behind the 2nd stage regulator would be the easiest place to tap into for a straight pipe to the generator. 1 first stage regulator at the tank. Line run form the tank to other side of the house (around 80') to 2nd stage regulator. This 2nd stage regulator is outside of the house.

Put 6" of coarse rock in the bottom of the hole, then drop the tank in. Now put more coarse rocks all around the tank, including the top (except for the intended opening (s)). Cover the tank with compacted soil, then put a poly tarp over the top (holes cut for openings.)

My propane dealer says they sell old bulk tanks for a $1/gallon usually because of bad valves and not due to rust or pressure retaining issues. So 300 gallon propane tank = $300. Realistically, fuel prices ARE going to RISE again. Hovering at 3 bucks a gallon right now, if they jump back to 4/gal, then my bulk tank has paid for itself.

Our local propane company had no clue. Our hardware store did not know propane generators were available. I know that I need 2 L14-20R and 1 L14-15R.

    1. You'll need a 10 lb high pressure regulator at the tank. 2. You'll need 2 second stage regulators, (output pressure messured in "inches of water collum", capacity messured in BTU's) one right at the house and the second right at the genny. The capacity for the house should match the regulator you currently have.

I can get diesel fuel from multiple sources and have 5 to 55-gallon drums available, plus the 50-gallon belly tank under the generator. We could reduce consumption a lot by just running the generator minimally like you did. I wouldn't count on any propane deliveries during long term power outages if I were you.

I was thinking about a short piece of large diameter culvert. 3ft is too small, 4ft would be better. The scrapyard may be a good idea. D. Reply Like.

BUDDY HEATER & SIZE PROPANE TANK. At the moment my son is using the heater in his 16ft bell tent. He's been living in it to get out of debt. Already has his car paid off. Anyway, he's purchased 2 - 20# tanks and alternates them. When one runs out, he hooks up a full one and when he goes to work he'll fill up the empty one.
