In school year 1982–83, a resolution requested a change from the name Aklan Development High School to Science Development High School of Aklan (SDHSA) to make it more suggestive of its Special Science Secondary Education Curriculum. Approval of the change of name was signed by MEC Minister Onofre D. Corpus on December 23, 1982.
