The 2023–24 season was the 135th season in the existence of Bolton Wanderers Football Club and the club's third consecutive season in EFL League One. It covered the period from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024.

On 1 January 2022, Charles joined fellow League One side Bolton Wanderers on a three-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee reported to be £320,000. The club was founded by the Reverend Joseph Farrall Wright, Perpetual curate of Christ Church Bolton, [6] and Thomas Ogden, the schoolmaster at the adjacent church school, in 1874 as Christ Church F.C. [7] It was initially run from the church of the same name on Deane Road, Bolton, on the site where the Innovation factory of the University of Bolton now stands.
