Lafourche Parish (French: Paroisse de la Fourche) is a parish located in the south of the U.S. state of Louisiana. The parish seat is Thibodaux. [1] The parish was formed in 1807. Thibodaux (/ ˈ t ɪ b ə d oʊ / TIB-ə-doh) is a city in, and the parish seat of, Lafourche Parish, Louisiana, United States, [3] along the banks of Bayou Lafourche in the northwestern part of the parish.
Cut Off is located in south-central Lafourche Parish at (29.515201, -90.333839), [4] on both sides of Bayou Lafourche It is bordered to the northwest by Larose and to the south by Galliano . Louisiana Highway 1 runs through the center of Cut Off, along the west bank of Bayou Lafourche, while Highway 308 runs along the east bank.
1961: Delta Farms flooded when the levees failed. The cattle were moved up Peanut Street and across the Bayou Lafourche Bridge to land on the west side of the bayou owned by one of the cattlemen. The land was re-drained, although only a few families returned. 1971: Levee broke, flooding all the land.
