Initially a stand-alone ABC affiliate, the station was sold to KMBC-TV in Kansas City (from whose feed KDRO-TV was receiving ABC network programming) in 1959 and became a full-time satellite. The station was then sold to CBS affiliate KRCG (who had a secondary affiliation with ABC) in 1961, and became a semi-satellite of that station.
