This solution is detailed in the Verizon community forum (Correct answer: Re: Cannot connect to Verizon (AOL) mail using Out... - Verizon Community) and apparently can be directly found nowhere else - not even on the AOL website. Read up on this. Once you generate the one-time use password for each Verizon.net mailbox, you should be able to use ...
Correcting the servers yields a never ending Yahoo 6 digit code supposedly sent to my Verizon account but not being received even from working mail clients like web access or iPhone mail. It appears Yahoo broke the AOL app password and has a failing and buggy setup.
This information has to be properly configured by Verizon for each server involved. Outlook doesn't just randomly pick Yahoo server names out of thin air. One suggestion would be to try to change the server settings using the Control Panel Mail app ----- #1 - With Outlook closed open the Control Panel <Mail> app
The Incoming mail server is still listed as pop.mail.yahoo.com and the Outgoing mail server is listed as smtp.mail.yahoo.com. Nevertheless, the Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server information under Send/Receive Groups>Edit>Account Properties is the correct verizon.net information. Thank you! Robert Skelton

To do this, open the Windows Control Panel, search for Mail, and open the Mail Applet. From there, you can add the account to the profile or change the settings for the account if it’s already there. Thank you so much. Have a nice day. Regards, Ankita Vaidya

>> it true that Outlook will no longer support rules for verizon accounts, just .live accounts? Or is their a creative way to use tags or groups? >> Correct. 1. Rules are not supported for IMAP accounts in new outlook, only outlook.com / Exchange accounts. If you need rules, go back to the old app. 2. They should be subscribed by default.
Instead, the IMAP account immediately tries to log in to a Yahoo account (I have a Yahoo account and an AOL account - the AOL account was originally a Verizon account converted back in 2015 but retaining the @verizon.net structure). As Yahoo and AOL are the same company for mail purposes, I think partially it's an AOL/Yahoo issue and partially ...
