The 2010 United States Senate election in Alaska took place on November 2, 2010. Incumbent Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski was re-elected as a write-in candidate despite having been defeated in the Republican primary. Primary elections were held on August 24, 2010.
The Senate is divided into three classes to stagger the terms of its members such that one-third of the Senate would be up for re-election every two years. Upon Alaska's admission to the Union in 1959, the state was assigned a Class 2 seat and a Class 3 seat, first elected in 1958 .
