Barcelona Gipsy balKan Orchestra (BGKO) is a band created in 2012 in Barcelona, Spain. The band draws on many musical influences, including Klezmer music, Jazz Manouche, and Romani music. The Rajkó Orchestra and Folk Ensemble is known for preserving Hungarian Roma music, dance and costume culture since 1952. Their work carries on the traditions of century-old generations. Their performances can be seen at a number of venues, among others at the Danube Palace [18] of Budapest during the season between 1 May and 31 October.
In 1994–1995 season a Consortium made up of the Government of Catalonia and Barcelona City Council was constituted. In September 2015, Kazushi Ōno became principal conductor of the OBC, with an initial contract of three years. [1] Ōno concluded his tenure as OBC principal conductor at the close of the 2021-2022 season.
