I also like the Zeiss Harpia 95mm plus the Kowa 88 and 99mm spotters. The Kowa has unmatched Fluorite lens elements. The Kowa runs around $3,200 for the 88 to $4,000.00 for the 99 but you can sometimes find both on sale. The Harpia goes for $4,400.00.
Feb 22, 2012. #3. Re: Spotting scope for 1+ mile shooting/observation. A quality tripod and head are $200+. For a mile You would be better off with a wireless video setup. The range of such a system is determined by many factors. No Spotting scope is worth a damn at a mile on a hot day over flat terrain.
Nice setup. It’s one of (possibly) nine made by London Bridge Trading (of Virginia Beach, Virginia) for Primier Reticles (formerly of Winchester, Virginia) in 2008 as part of a military contract submission. It was originally intended to be used with a Hensoldt spotting scope.
I would like to buy a spotting scope for bench rest range use. Seeing 30 cal bullet holes on paper at 600 yards is a must. .224 at 600 yards a plus. At 1000yds a big plus. I'm looking in the $900.00 to $1000.00 range. The two I'm looking at. Vortex Viper HD Spotting Scope 20-60x 80mm Armored Green $899.99.
Swaro is brighter, with its 80mm objective. Swaro has a reticle that illuminates bright orange, even in bright daylight. Henny cannot illiminate like this. Swaro has reticle elevation and windage hash marks at many fractional points. Henny is a staight and weird L-shaped Mildot, which is less than ideal.
Mar 28, 2022. #1. So I just got my first tripod and I'm starting to think about putting a spotting scope system together. I've seen a few systems that have LRF/atmospheric and NVG / illuminator together. Would love to see what you guys are running for that (bonus points if it works at night)!
I am selling my new in-box Nightforce CFS spoting scope w/ Mil-XT which also comes with the accessory cage. I bought two and kept the version without the cage. $2,900 shipped $2,800 shipped $2,700 shipped $2,600 shipped. www.snipershide.com. TheOE800 and BurtG.
The 82SV on a Giraud tripod is an excellent scope that should last a shooting career (and perhaps as a pass-down to kids or grandkids). The 25X or 27X long eye relief eyepiece is the correct choice. The Fluorite lens 663 is also a fantastic scope, the clarity of the High Definition glass making up for a smaller objective lens for light gathering.
Jul 12, 2024. #21. I had one of those scope adapters for your phone with 14 different knobs to adjust it, was more of a pain in the ass than it was worth. Ended up hacking together a few different phone case holder designs to 3d print a digiscope type phone holder that would slide over the eyepiece of the spotter.
