Bragg Creek is named after Albert Warren Bragg from Collingwood, Nova Scotia and his 14-year-old brother John Thomas who homesteaded in the area in 1894. The community was established between a forestry reserve, the Sarcee First Nations reserve and a Provincial Park. Ranching was the original primary economic generator in Bragg Creek.
The community was originally a 17,500-acre (7,100 ha) estate owned by the Percy Rockefeller family but later acquired by the federal government and is now mostly located inside nearby Fort Bragg (Powell 1968, p. 87). A Donald Ross-designed golf course was added to the estate in two separate projects and is also now located inside Fort Bragg.
Jeffrey MacDonald was born in Jamaica, Queens, New York, the second of three children born to Robert and Dorothy (née Perry) MacDonald. He was raised in a poor household on Long Island, [4] with a disciplinarian father who, although nonviolent towards his wife and children, demanded obedience and achievement from his family.
As of 2022, the Virginia property, which was most recently valued at $95,000, was held jointly by Bragg’s uncle and Bragg’s mother’s estate, of which Bragg is the beneficiary.
Bragg died at her home in Goleta, California, on August 10, 2023, at the age of 94. [15] " In addition to her work in the natural products industry, Patricia was an avid benefactor of her Santa Barbara community, where she supported local food pantries, animal shelters, and wildlife preservation efforts, in addition to naturopathic and nutrition educational efforts, according to the company."
The Caleb Bragg Estate, in the unincorporated village of Montauk, New York, was built in 1929. It was designed by Walker & Gillette. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
