Tamil Lexicon (Tamil: தமிழ்ப் பேரகராதி Tamiḻ Pērakarāti) is a twelve-volume dictionary of the Tamil language. Published by the University of Madras , it is said to be the most comprehensive dictionary of the Tamil language to date.
The term appears to have initially had the same meaning in other countries but has since been used in many places to refer either to a budget-priced hotel with limited amenities or a love hotel, depending on the country and language. (End quoted text) The above mentioned possible origin for the word can only be regarded as a joke and i hope the origin is the tamil word "kaimpendatti" This word is derived from a pure tamil word called "KaimPen" or "KaimPendatti" meaning a widow. Its a feminine gender word and is not supposed to be used for the masculine gender.
