Deep gnomes are a dour lot, reserved and careful in their dealings with outsiders. They make the assumption that every non-svirfneblin means to do them harm — which is understandable given their history. They speak softly in caves and tunnels where sound carries, eyes darting furtively, looking for signs of danger.
Hey, I'm currently thinking of making a Deep Gnome/Svirfneblin character but I'm only finding conflicting information about it. My DM bought the 'Monsters of the Multiverse' book which contains very different rules than those that for example DnDbeyond uses.
My forest gnome is named Iris Perle Tully Moyra Lulu Ningel Gigglefoot Muddle Greenleaf, but you can call her Moyra Ningel Greenleaf for short. She introduces herself to each new character this way. She gets super excited when meeting other gnomes and is visibly disappointed and sad for them if they have fewer than 4 names.

as i said, with rogue you can make lots of things work. even single attack rogues (though multiple attack rogues are, as noted, a bit stronger). basically pick a weapon you like, and as long as it is possible to sneak attack with it you can make it work. svirfneblin is fine, imo. i mean, switch if you want to, but advantage to stealth in rocky ...
