The American Physical Society honors members with the designation Fellow for having made significant accomplishments to the field of physics. [1]The following list includes those fellows selected in the first 50 years of the tradition, that is, from 1921 through 1971.
The David Adler Lectureship Award in the Field of Materials Physics is a prize that has been awarded annually by the American Physical Society since 1988. The recipient is chosen for being "an outstanding contributor to the field of materials physics, who is noted for the quality of his/her research, review articles and lecturing."
The American Physical Society was founded on May 20, 1899, when thirty-six physicists gathered at Columbia University for that purpose. It has also had collaboration with the American Physical Society. In October 2003 APS and PSI jointly sponsored a school/workshop on string theory in Tehran. [2]
