The Coca-Cola 600, originally the World 600, is an annual 600-mile (970 km) NASCAR Cup Series points race held at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, on a Sunday during Memorial Day weekend. The first race, held in 1960, was also the first one held at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It is the longest race on NASCAR's schedule. [1]
On April 20, the race was rescheduled for Sunday and moved from a night race to a day race. At the 2017 event, after rain caused the Xfinity Series event of the Saturday afternoon to be delayed by several hours, a decision was made to move the Cup race an hour back to a 1:00 PM local time start, as more rain was expected later during the day.
It was the 32nd race of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season, the sixth race of the Playoffs, and final race of the Round of 12. It was won by A. J. Allmendinger. This was the last race with the old roval configuration, as Charlotte Motor Speedway announced before the 2024 Coca-Cola 600 that the roval would get a redesign for 2024. [10]
